====== RF Shark M1KE Bluetooth Audio Workaround ====== ==== Degree of Difficulty ==== 3 out of 10 ==== Preface ==== When you're on the road, it can be difficult to hear your M1KE. Wouldn't be nice to listen through your vehicle's speakers? Though it's seems quite possible that the M1KE has a Bluetooth chipset as an integral part of the Wi-Fi chip, as of the posting of this article, Bluetooth is not available in the latest firmware (V51β). Not to worry, you can still use Bluetooth in your vehicle or listening device of your choice. ==== Prerequisites ==== * Your cell phone Bluetooth paired with your vehicle's infotainment system or audio device of your choice. * Your M1KE's Wi-Fi connected to your cell phone's hotspot or a Wi-Fi netwwork. * Web browser on your cellular phone. (Same phone providing hotspot service) ==== Procedure ==== Now that your M1KE is connected to your phone's hotspot, let's connect to the M1KE using your phone's web browser: 1.) If you haven't already, install the [[https://www.sharkrf.com/products/sharkrf-link-app/|SharkRF Link App]] on your smartphone. 2.) Open the app and tap + (plus symbol) then, the button that says "Manually add" 3.) Enter the device ID found on the back of your M1KE. 4.) Now, you will see a grey section containing your device; click on the little computer icon to connect. 5.) When you see the M1KE web page, tap the speaker icon with X to unmute. Ensure that the volume slider on the screen is turned all the way up. 6.) Optionally, click the eyeball to view the M1KE display screen on your phone. 7.) There you have it! When you hear radio traffic coming from your car speakers, you can turn the volume down on the M1KE. You can use the M1KE as you would otherwise. ==== Notes ==== * If you do not have the app, use [[m1ke-find-ip-address-without-app|this method]] to find your M1KE IP address. * Using Bluetooth over the app adds a modest amount of delay in the received audio. ==== Disclaimer ==== * Not liable for damages caused by your use of this procedure. https://kw5usa.radio/go/bt-workaround 20260413-2
